On October 24th, Inspur World mainframe application and technology forum was held in Beijing. Inspur systematically explained the arrangement of Tiansuo K1 mainframe businesses in product, technical routing and industrial ecology. Year 2014 is the year for homemade mainframes because IBM and SAP successively declared their full supports of Tiansuo K1 and the Homemade Mainframe Alliance as led by Inspur has been expanding continuously to include 58 members, as against only 16 in the beginning. Inspur World Mainframe Application and Technical Forum Mainframe is the strategic core and vertical scaling is the perennial pursuit Inspur World is a large-scale technical event held by Inspur once every two years. Inspur will introduce its understanding of the industry and business plan for the future to key clients and partners along the industrial chain in the meeting. This meeting had “digital intelligence and future of cloud" as the theme. Inspur shared its emerging technologies and products in cloud computing, big data and Software-Defined Data Center. Inspur is the only Chinese enterprise that has mastered large-scale mainframe technologies. In the future, it will keep investing resources to improve relevant products and develop more comprehensive critical application solutions so that more industrial users can use better domestic critical application mainframes. According to Wang Endong, executive president of Inspur, mainframe has always been the strategic business of Inspur and it is the irreplaceable core equipment of critical applications. Vertical scaling is the best practice to satisfy critical application needs and the perennial pursuit in the IT sector. Cloud computing, Mobile Internet and other new-generation information application will pose enormous challenges to the IT system, including exponential increase in the number of users and terminals and data load, diversification of data types and increasing requirements on the real-time and connectivity of IT services. To address these challenges, the hardware platform that supports the services shall have very good longitudinal scalability. The closely coupled data solution that has critical application mainframe and other large-scale computing equipment as the platform is still the best choice for mainstream users. Integrating domestic and foreign industrial ecologies More than 500 industrial clients, technical experts and partners attended the mainframe application and technical forum. Inspur demonstrated the full-range Tiansuo K1 system products and 30+ types of critical application solutions, including its new product of K1 910. According to Hu Leijun, vice president of Inspur Group, year 2014 witnessed the major development of Tiansuo K1 mainframe’s ecology. The Homemade Mainframe Alliance expanded to 38 members in the first half of the year and further to 58 members today, as against only 16 in the beginning, and the members are distributed across the industrial chain, including chip, mainframe, operating system, middleware and database. Moreover, Inspur has established partnerships with IBM and SAP. And successfully entered the global mainframe club. DB2, WebSphere, Sybase and other platform software have been integrated with Tiansuo K1 system. Today, all mainstream databases, middleware and instrumental software can run on K1. More importantly, Inspur has continuously increased its influence in the global mainframe industrial chain. Solid and effective cooperation has promoted the exchange and integration of domestic and foreign ecologies and effectively promoted the development room of Tiansuo K1 system. According to Zhong Zemin, general manager of Software Group Business Development Department of IBM Greater China during his speech, IBM and Inspur were further widening the channels of cooperation. Both parties will not only establish a “Center of Excellence” to support the clients and ISV oriented to the new platform, but also promote the sharing of both parties’ channel resources and deepen market cooperation. Today, more than 30 ISV and SI will adopt the various solutions jointly developed by Inspur and IBM. Inspur released a joint solution with Advanced Digital Technology and IBM on the 23rd. The ESB, intermediate service platform, Yinbaotong and other banking system solutions based on Tiansuo K1, IBM DB2 and WebSphere platform have smoothly undergone the compatibility, functional and performance tests with good results and satisfy the requirements of production environment. Advanced Digital Technology has always been a close partner of IBM and also a member of the industrial alliance. According to Zhu Huyong, vice president of Advanced Digital Technology, it will explore new application fields with Inspur in the future to further diversify the ecology of homemade mainframes and provide better systematic supports to the IT system of China’s financial industry. According to Lu Dongming, director of Big Data Architecture Department of SAP China, SAP felt satisfied with the partnership with Inspur. Both parties have not only realized mutual support and integration of products and technologies, but also made smooth achievements in market exploration. A certain large-scale state-owned bank has determined to adopt the joint solution established on the basis of Inspur K1 and Sybase database. Recognitions from critical industrial users The development of industrial ecology provides a solid foundation for the development of Tiansuo K1 solution and breakthrough in industrial markets. According to Chen Changhao, general manager of Mainframe System Department of Inspur, there were 50+ Tiansuo K1-based solutions in 2014 and most of them were completed with partners. Today, K1 has been successfully applied in 12 critical industries. The core production systems of CCB, Luoyang Bank, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and Ministry of Agriculture have shifted from the small mainframe platform of IOH (IBM, Oracle and HP) to Tiansuo K1. According to relevant personnel of the Information Technology Department of Import and Export Bank of China, the bank provides services to corporate users instead of individual users as it is a national policy bank. Therefore, even a small-value transaction involves a value of at least 10 million Yuan and has highly stringent safety requirements. The Internet banking database system of the bank is based on Inspur K1 system and no anomaly has occurred in the 10 months since it was launched. Tiansuo K1 system is applied in the Jinbao Project on a large scale and it supports the core data platform of Anhui Provincial Department of Human Resources and Public Security and the core data platforms of Wuhu, Ma’anshan, Huangshan, Chizhou, Haozhou and Bengbu. According to relevant management personnel, we will further replace IBM and HP minicomputers with Tiansuo K1 in the future not only because K1 is a domestic product, but also because Inspur can provide lower system construction costs and operating costs and hence reduce TCO by nearly 30%. Moreover, Inspur also dispatches engineers to the factory for total-process professional technical services in the field and no foreign supplier can do this. Jinlin Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce completed the development of the K1-based enterprise information public disclosure system and the comprehensive service software system. According to Zhang Kaihui, vice director of the Information Center, the two major systems comprise six subsystems and dozens of submodules which need to be launched on line within a short period of time. Database deployment is of paramount importance. Inspur has been involved in the project since it was commenced. The implementation, deployment and launching were all be performed according to the highest standards. Strict testing was also conducted after implementation. The system has undergone basic test, functional test, performance test and integration test successively and the project progress is guaranteed. The system also delivered performances better than expected after it was launched. Goals of three globally leading mainframe suppliers Inspur’s mainframe businesses have passed the market incubation period and are developing on a fast track today. Tiansuo K1 has registered three-digit growth rate and Inspur aims to become one of the three leading mainframe suppliers of the world, accounting for 30% of the domestic market. In September, Inspur released new product Tiansuo K1 910 system oriented towards small and medium-scale critical applications. This sector accounts for over 60% of the mainframe market. The creation of Tiansuo K1 910 further extends the spectrum of Inspur’s mainframe businesses to cover high-end, medium-end and low-end markets. As such, Inspur’s mainframe business scale is expected to grow further. Some analysts believe that the rise of local enterprises and the localization of foreign enterprises are the most distinctive trend in the IT sector in recent years. The pillar enterprises, as represented by Inspur, have improved their technical ecology, products and solutions and driven the expansion and development of the domestic industrial chain. As such, China’s IT industry will enter the era of both competition and partnership along the industrial chain. The restructuring and upgrading process of the industrial development mode has started. |
